Detailed description of Sundance Golf Club

Sundance Golf Club is an 18 hole public golf course located in Buckeye, Arizona.

The Sundance Golf Club golf course first opened for play in 2003. The course was designed by Greg Nash.

With four sets of tee boxes varying in distance from 5,300-7,000 yards, Sundance Golf Club offers an excellent test for players of all abilities. Sundance uniquely blends Sonoran Desert washes and arroyos with lush green conditions.

Generous landing areas and sloping greens and panoramic views of the White Tank Mountains to the north and the Estrella Mountains to the south differentiate Sundance from other golf courses.

My girlfriend’s son said that this course has the best “Price, Conditions, Challenge “ in the Western Phoenix area.....he wasn’t kidding. This course for $24 for 18w/cart could match most $60 courses with Blacks at 6,944yds that I’ve played in recent years. Of the four (4) available tees, we chose the Gold 3,085/3,286yds / 69.2 / 116 for this Par 36/36 golf community layout. The full green rolling fairways were generous in their landing areas and rolled out 20-50yds nicely. The 15-25 of rough was mostly a grassy hard pan that runs into the typical desert landscape. You also couldn’t escape the views of Estrella/White Tank Mts in the near distance as they enhanced the normal flat housing views. Firm sand traps dotted most landing areas with 1-4 scattered around to protect those smooth adulating greens. Today they were rolling at 8-9 and were quite difficult to judge speed and break. Front 9 had some forced carries (water/ditches) like #2 a 375yd Par 4 with a ditch at 210yds. The #6 154yd Par 3 has a full water carry to the large adulating green. The #7 is a RH dogleg with 180yd water carry on this 329yd Par 4 unless you hit the inside cart path and get an extra 100yds. The Back 9 has a few waste area carries, with #12 a 386yd Hcp 3 one challenging Par 4. The #15 321yd Par 4 has a split fairway that rewards an 220yd+ drive to the rightside fairway, as the left is only 190 yds long to the waste area. The finishing #18 hole can stretch to 601yds with a narrow trap infested fairway that highlights your challenge today. I ended up shooting 42/41 w/35putts with son and grandson enjoying the wildlife of rabbits and coyotes that roam the area. You won’t be disappointed playing a great warmup round here before heading to the other high end tracks.

Sundance Golf Club is very inexpensive (well priced) for the area.

We were forewarned that the 90 degree rule was in effect before making our tee time and most holes were roped off, even though over seeding had not been done.

There are some tough holes on the course.

The biggest negative is that there are lots of houses fairly close to the fairways with angry residents. We were even told before starting the round that if a homeowner calls to complain that golfers are on their property, you will be asked to leave the course. With several holes it is not clear where the private property starts. One member of our group hit one in the rocky area just off the fairway and had a homeowner yell at him.
